My mom is from Switzerland. I just asked her, "What do you think of using Zurich as a baby name?" and she started laughing really hard. Don't do it.

I personally don't like it, to tell you the truth it reminds me of a little coffee shop that I went to once called Zurich. The name is not ugly, I just don't find it suitable for someone to be called that. This is just my opinion, go with your gut feeling, if you like the name and are comfortable with it and it makes you happy, then who cares what everyone else thinks. It would be a very original name, there are so many different names out there, that by the time your child is old enough, I'm sure the name wont stick out as much, people are constantly looking for "different" names these days, that when the "different name generation" are all adults, they will all see there names as nothing out of the ordinary. Well, I think as place names go it is a cut above many that are in heavy use right now. And it's easily to pronounce and recognize, so even though it's unusual, it wouldn't be a burden.

My only hesitation is that it doesn't have a nickname. (Ric?) That would drive me bananas, but if you don't mind, then it's a small concern.

So I think it's a good choice. The world really does NOT need another Jayden. ;)

I don't like it personally. Just think about when you name your son that all the ridicule he will have to go through.

Children aren't cities. Place-names are tacky.
