Because they are in the western Atheletic divisin. They do score alot of points, hence makes a quarterback look good, but you have to look at their opponents. They play teams like La. Tech, Fresno state, Utah State, San jose state, Nevada, Idaho. The Bcs poll is divided into thirds, the Harris poll, The coaches poll(USA Today-espn coached poll) and the computer. They take into account the strenght of the school, the strnght of the opponents played and the record of the schools. Sure izzzzzzzzzzzzzzzvt helps to score alot of points and when it comes doen to determining something like whether LSU or Ohio state should be number 1, they do look at how many points a team scores, but if for example LSU barely sqeaks by a team like ole miss (with a losing record) it doe snot fare well for LSU even though they win. Although most people don't even realize that the LSU?ole Miss game is always close and when ole miss is winning the sec and LSU is dead last , now I am going back many years, but it never failed LSU would come in and play spoiler, but then they couldn't score another touch down the rest of the season. The same goes for right now, LSU hold the number one spot an they play close games with good teams and have shown that they have what it takes to come out on top. Take the Alabama game for example that ws nail biting game all th way, the a number one team like LSU - comes in confident ready to defend their coach and give Les Mile some breathing room. I am not a fan of Sabin and nothong brought me more pleasure when he haqd to finally walk out on the "tiger's"victory circle and out of his wharped phoney sense of sportsmanship he shoook Les milles was forcd to shake miles hand with egg on his face. If I would have had to listen to ole bear Bryant's statemenet from saban one more time i would have thrown up "ill take mine abd whip yourns and then I'll take yoursn and whip mine" ok i am off su=bject here
Back to Boise st. They do have an awesome quarter back , but he has never hd to face just as the team has never had to face a tough defene, so me may never know what he is like when facing a tough defensive line. It is sut the way ot works, and unless bise state can get some recognitin for beating a top ranked defense then they just don' get the exposure the q-back needs for the recognition he needs. the school never has the chance to upse a top ranked school so their chances of moving up very high are pretty slim to none. when you have the number one ranked pass and rush pffense playing the number one ranked pass/rush defense and you excitinting games that allow the public, the polls and the fans and the bowl selectors and the poll rankers just don't have anyway of evaluating them compared to the super tough and super talented teams n the sec east and west, the pack 10, big ten etc, it is a unfortunate thing but otherwise great teams and playes are overlooked when the polls are tallied.. He can either play for a diferent school or he has to work on (the coach des) getting their team some recognition.
Sorry probably not what you wanted to hear, but I am not much of an LSU fan, but I lve in La. and it took a he-l of a long time for the tigerd tot be taken seriousy as a number one contender

For a non-BCS team to make a dent in the rankings, they have to play AND beat BCS conference teams. In 2004, Utah became the first non-BCS school to play in a BCS bowl. The Utes schedule that year included wins of the Big 12 (Texas A&M), the Pac 10 (Arizona), and the ACC (North Carolina).
BSU has to get more big conference teams on their schedule, non-conference games against MWC, Conf-USA and Big Sky opponents don't help, and losing to the worst team in only major conference on the schedule only reconfirms preconcieved perceptions.

Well, the conference thing is a killer for sure. However, you are catching a huge break in the BCS by having a golden opportunity to make a statement next week against one of the last undefeateds. TCB against Hawaii, and you should vault into the top 10.

that one loss, was to Washington, 3 - 7 Washington. That's not good. Since that was the only game against a BCS conference team......But next week is a game against Hawaii. Win that and Boise St. will definantly move up.

no actually hes pretty good. its b/c of the lost in Washington. look at the Huskies now they suck. thats why. lf the Broncos can beat the Warriors in a convincing way and go 11-1 they have an excellent chance of being in the top 12.
