Did F1 become a spec tire series by default, or does Bridgestone have exclusive rights to supply F1 teams?

They could always submit an application or something. But right now Bridgestone is the sole tire supplier. It would be better if there were another. More competition. And makes it more interesting. The only good thing about sole tire supplier is even level of competition because of the tires. Why oh why did Michelin have to go?

Like mentioned above, not for a couple of years. I think it sucks that there is only one supplier. I read somewhere that this years tires is similar construction to the 2003 tires. Formula 1 went back in technology instead of forward. From year to year when Michelin was in the cars would go 2 seconds a lap faster every year just from the tire wars.

Bring back tire competition or bring back slicks!!!

In a couple of years yeah, as long as you have the money to pay Bernie, you can, but you have to wait for Bridgestone's contract to expire and prove that your tires can last the race not like the Michelin's in Indianapolis...

Not until several years. Bridgestone is the current tyre supplier and they have the rights to do so.
