My puppy broke her leg last week and she's in a cast for the 4 weeks.

I'd written 'get well soon xx' on her cast.

Last night my brother and his friend (who are both 15) wrote offensive words all over her cast.

I am furious. She isn't his puppy, he didn't ask me if he could write anything and he wrote all over what I had written.

Her cast is red and the pen is permanent. Will turps or meths take the pen off?

(I'm asking in this section because I'm not sure where else to ask)

Thank you.

I told my Mum, she didn't really care. Mind you, he could commit murder and still be in her good books.

I didn't really want to have to draw over it.

I'm sorry about your puppy. :( Maybe a Magic Eraser might get it off, but that may mess up the cast. Your best bet may just be to cover the words with a big fabric marker or something. Just make it all one color if she'll sit that long, or just cover what they wrote. Keep them away from her in the future if you can and tell your parents. I hope she is better soon. :)

I wouldn't use turps or meths on the cast. It might weaken it. Could you get a red spray paint made for things like plastic or other things that could be hurt by come chemicals, and just spray paint over the offensive stuff. I'd also give thought to taking the permanent marker to my brothers face while he was sleeping. Maybe a star or heart on his forehead or cheek...something that would make other people laugh at him.

As a cat I know what kids can do. Try getting a string with a can off your tail. Don't use anything that can soften or soak through the cast. I would just take a black marker and mark over it. Make a design. Be artistic.

Dear Sarah,

Since the cast is red, I am surmising, it is made of fiberglass, or other composite material. Therefore, I wouldn't use any kind of solvent to clean it. The solvent, may attack the cast material.

It may be okay, to carefully wrap the cast, with a single layer of white surgical tape. It would cover the previous writing, and provide you with a good surface to write on. You may, want to give the veterinarian a call, before you do anything.

I would suggest trying with meths and a cotton bud. Try it on a very small area. Meths will rapidly evaporate, where as turps could soak into the cast.

Boys are so mean. Alcohol should take most of the black permanent marker off. You don't need strong chemicals.
Keep using the alcohol.

I hope your puppy feels better soon.

Hi Wabby, They have very light color tape that sticks to it's self. Get that in red and just tape over it. All Athletics used this kind of tape. Sorry that your baby broke her leg!!!

Nail polish remover might work Wabby.
You could ring the Stationery Warehouse to see if they have a product for that purpose.
