Why would EVERYONE (presumably in the world) need to know the answer to a question like that?)

Because less than one in five adults in the U.S. has ever read the Constitution. In 1960 a shipmate of mine and I dressed in civilian clothes and stopped people at random on the streets of Manhattan in New York City. We asked them to look at a document and give us their opinion. Most of the reactions were in the category of: "Where did you get that commie crap? You're not going to shove that socialist nonsense down our throats", etc. They were all looking at a copy of the Bill of Rights with the title cut off!

Although I understand it, it doesn't seem like the President, the Congress or the Supreme Court wants to. It's just an inconvenience to them.

Hardly anyone in THIS country understands the 1st Amendment. Or the rest of the Bill of Rights for that matter. But it doesn't stop people from spewing their parroted nonsense.
