Clean up all the garbage and crap off your hard drive ---
Delete things you do not need------
Defrag your H.D. (weekly)
Sounds like you are "timing out" --- this can be caused by a H.D in desperate need of some housekeeping.
Shut down some of your startup programs -----
Don"t run anything if you are not using that program --close it down.
Don"t fill-up your H.D ---keep it around 75% full
Download "CCleaner" --- PerfectDisk 8.0 --- TuneUp Utilities 2007 ---- from Filehippo.
Use these programs to shape up your computer.

Reset Internet Explorer to the default settings
By resetting Internet Explorer to its default settings, you return it to the state it was in when it was first installed on your computer. This is useful for troubleshooting problems that might be caused by settings that were changed after installation. When you restore Internet Explorer's default settings, some webpages that rely on previously stored cookies, form data, passwords, or previously installed browser add-ons might not work correctly. Resetting Internet Explorer to its default settings does not delete your favorites, feeds, and a few other personalized settings.
If you purchased your computer with Windows already installed, any settings the manufacturer specified will be reapplied. These settings might include a specific home page or search provider.

To reset Internet Explorer to the default settings

Close any Internet Explorer or Windows Explorer windows that are currently open.
Open Internet Explorer.
Click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options.
Click the Advanced tab, and then click Reset.
In the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box, click Reset.
When Internet Explorer finishes restoring the default settings, click Close, and then click OK.
Close Internet Explorer.
The changes will take effect the next time you open Internet Explorer.

Notes

If you close all visible windows, but still get an error message when trying to reset, you might have programs running that are not visible. Restart Windows, open Internet Explorer, and try resetting again.
If any of the categories fail to reset, it is because Internet Explorer could not access a file or registry setting. This can be caused by insufficient security privileges, files or settings being used by another program, or low memory or high CPU usage. You can either continue to use Internet Explorer without resetting these settings, or restart your computer and try running reset again.
If you are using Internet Explorer on a server and have turned off hardening (stronger security settings for use on servers), reset will go to client level security. You must reinstall hardening if you want the increased security level.

Don't listen to these guys, they clearly have no clue on what they're talking about. I am a developer at Microsoft so I know a thing or two about computers. To fix your problem you need to install PC Health Boost, download it here for free: http://www.healthboostpc.com

It's very light and it's the only antivirus/cleaner with a 99.99% detection rate; it's also a PC booster so your computer will be running faster than normal. Install it, hit run and problem solved. It shouldn't take you more than 5 minutes.

Because the home page doesn't exist anymore, type into the address bar-google.uk then click add or change home page that's the icon with a picture of a house on the tool bar, click the box or circle saying Add or Change home page and that's how to change your home page. To check it out close Internet explorer by clicking on the red cross on the top right hand corner and the go back to Internet explorer and if you see google. uk its done.

My advice? First off, restart the computer. I am assuming you are using a windows computer if you are using Internet Explorer, but if you aren't there is still a way to do this. Disconnect than reconnect your internet or use the control prompt and type in c:/

Check at Tools & see if there's a check mark on "work offline". If it has a check beside it, click on it & it'll uncheck it.
If that isn't the problem go to tools at top of page & click on diagnose connection problems & it'll walk you thru that & tell you if there's a problem...try refreshing the page again after trying these things.
Also, your internet security may need to be lowered to the middle of the scale & you can check that by clicking tools (at top) then internet options & click on security, then click custom level & lower the security there.
And too, you may need to do a windows update located also at tools & click on windows update & after it stops the download click express & it will tell / show you updates that are need for your system.
I can usually open a page quickly when I get that same message-go to top at tools, internet options, click security tab then you'll see "sites" & click it, then add that website to be allowed by typing in (example) https://www.yahoo.com ...don't forget to put the s on the http thingy because it'll usually ask you to add the "s", click OK,go back & refresh the page & my 'puter will open the page.
Good luck

What kind of internet connection do you have? If it's wireless, then there's your problem. Something is blocking the signal from getting from the router to your computer. If it's a wired connection, then it could either be your Network Card, cable, modem or ISP (which i doubt) Make sure all are functioning properly and replace all faulty parts.
