Well, assuming you made a typo and x is raised to the second power, you need to factor the quadratic expression on the left:

(x + ?) (x + ?) = 0

where the two missing number have to multiply to give 4 and have to add up to -5.

If you can figure out what those two numbers are, then set each factor equal to 0.

I bet you can do it :)

You have to use completing the squares method, though I'm not sure exactly if that is a x raised to the negative power. If thats the case then you know that you can never have a negative exponent.
