Me & my bf are going to my family get together in a few days...I'm about to turn 20 yrs old, so my mother told me that I can also start bringing a dish, or snacks. Any ideas? I haven't done this before. Maybe some kind of sweet treat, or finger food? Ideas? thanks!

Aww babe...i'm no longer probably up with the entire Thanksgiving custom by way of fact we don't have fun it over right here. All i understand is that Turkey's this time of three hundred and sixty 5 days are commencing as much as $hit themselves!! My suggestion could be a severe-high quality dessert of a few form...perchance a Tiramisu or a chocolate mousse, or of direction a cake. Sorry, i'm no longer a lot help for you in this one..yet i'm able to inform you, a candy dish will consistently be prominent and could get carry of the "WOW" element!

I think you should make or bring something you know is good (because you may have to make it/bring it for a large amount of people) but also different. Many people bring the obvious things (pie, especially). Something different is fun and really makes it seem like you've taken the time to care. Dessert is usually the best, in my opinion, because many people expect a certain Thanksgiving dinner, so adding to that may not work if the food doesn't "match".

Here is something easy that your family will enjoy -- finger food too

Get some of the Pillsberry cresent rolls. Roll them out on to a pizza pan or oblong pan. Work them until they cover the pan. Then bake according to instructions. Let it cool. Then cover with veggie cream cheese. Sprinkle small diced veggies. I usually use green, red and yellow peppers, some onion, carrot. The secret is to cut the pieces small.

Or you can do the same thing, use a fruit cream cheese and put on pieces of strawberry, kiwi and pineapple.

These make a great treat.

My fave things to make are either pumpkin cheesecake or a candy bar pie. The first is kinda time consuming, but the cany bar pie is SO easy. Basically, you take 6 full size bars of your favorite candy bar (I usually use Butterfingers cause they tend to break up the best and they taste awsome in this!) and and break them into little bitty pieces. Then you mix it into an 8oz tub of whipped cream. You pour the mixture into a premade graham cracker crust and freeze it overnight. That's it. My family asks for one every year.

Cream cheese balls rolled in sesame seeds are really easy to make. If you are inclined to get fancy, you can bring a cheese and crackers tray.
