I am 13 and the oldest in my grade, with really big boobs and haven't had my period. A lot of my friends have had their period and are the youngest. I am really scared to have my 1st period. I don't know what to expect. How do I know I will be getting it? Does it hurt a lot? Thanks for the HELP!! I am also afraid to talk to my mom about it.

Having a period may be a pain, but it doesn't last more than a week and it is only once a month. Use pads or tampons- whatever you are more comfortable with. Remember that having a period is special because it means you are able to have children and that is a blessing and a miracle. You are not alone there are girls and women all over that are going throught the same thing you are. When you are going through the pain of a period just look on the bright side of things.

There is nothing freaky about it. Did someone scare you? What scares you about it the most.

Its something that will take time to adjust too.

Maybe an aunt, mother, female teacher, or even school nurse can answer your questions for you.

Just carry a maxi pad in your school bag or purse. I still do.

It's nothing to be scared of, but it can be scary when you haven't experienced something before. It's really the best if you talk to your mother, but if you can't talk to her, why not talk to an older sister, an aunt, or another trusted adult female friend?

you didn't say why you were scared, but there is nothing to worry about
sure it's not something that us girls can say that excalty look forward to happening but all girls go through it and you'll soon get used to it
If you have any serious worries talk to a friend that has already started or to someone like your mum or a sister
Hope this helps babe :) xx

talk to a older female (mum, sister etc) ask for some money and go and buy suplies pads (i wouldn't try tampons till your used to having a period) and have fun being a woman and welcome to woman hood oh yeah don't worry if your periods are irregular thats normal for the first two to three years.

At least you are not living in the days of the Old Testament. You would have to stay outside of the village until it was over, you wouldn't be able to touch anything, and they would burn your clothes and the things that you touched when it was over.
