People on Yahoo Answers are just being incredibly ugly! I rarely see any kind of analysis of her opinions, record or positions. It's just name calling, insults and profanity. Do her opponents really have nothing intelligent to say? Is their fury just impotent lashing out at her almost certain victory?

Nothing whatsoever. They just repeat the same tired old mantra that they hear from Rush & friends. I guess the things that Hillary tries to explain are just too complicated for them to understand...goes right over their heads. Pity!

Elway, I actually believe she is unelectable. Let me start by saying I usally vote for Democrats (though I am an independent).

My problem with Hillary, and why I believe that she is unelectable, is because of the aura of corruption that surrounds her. Whitewater, pardongate, fundraising questions, etc. I am really concerned about her voting record. To me it seems like she always vote for what is popular and will help her in her Presidential Campaign. I have yet to hear her take a stand that against her core Democratic base. I was also very put off by her running for Senate in New York when she never lived in the state previously. That told me that she isn't running for Senate to help her Constituants, but herself.

Now why she is 'unelectable'. Right now Hillary has less then 50% of Democrats backing her. I don't remember a politician since Nixon that was as polarizing as Hillary. You either love her or you hate her. If Hillary gets the nomination she will not receive the swing Republicans and will likely loose the majority of Independents. I also think that if the Republican candidate isn't a big backer of the war (like Romney), he may steal away some Democrats.

All that said, I think that most of the comments on this site concerning Hillary are ridiculous.

You are a very intuitive person and hit the nail right on the head. You should go over to the Politics section and check out the idiots there, it's even worse. That's all they have. Name calling and histrionics. She's a socialist, she's a communist, she doesn't have any experience (my particular favorite), she's a flip-flopper, she's evil, she's ugly, she's really a man, she's a man hater, she's going to RUIN this country by God. It's all so tiresome. Once in a while there is an intelligent person who actually wants to talk about her stand on policy and issues, but it's like finding a needle in a haystack.

And you are right, all their yammering does nothing but drive more people to check her out that end up deciding they're going to vote for her. Which is just fine with me :-). The funniest ones are the ones who say ignorant stuff like "She has no real chance," "She won't ever get the nomination," "She's unelectable." The other idiots are the ones that keep calling her a socialist. I think half of them don't even know what that means. One has to be dumb deaf and deliberately blind to not see she's a old fashioned capitalist who knows how often we as a country have incorporated "socialist" like ideas into our system - like Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, etc.. I think that they think if they say these things often enough it will magically come true.
They better buy the economy size bottle of aspirin on Election Day, it's looking like they're going to need it.

EDIT:
Downriver Dave:
Hello. I have to disagree with you about her electability. The thing is that all the past crap they talk about is old news that they were never able to prove the first time. Most voters got sick of it back then and don't want to hear it now. We get it - they thought the Clintons were criminals and they couldn't prove it. It doesn't help their case to keep acting like they did prove it, most Americans know better and are tired of hearing about it. And the only Republican candidate who will take this tactic is Romney. Giuliani can't do it, too many of his own skeletons, he doesn't want to open that kind of dialogue. Thompson is pretty much history. And Huckabee and McCain won't stoop to that level.

I think you underestimate the level of the Republican disgrace and corruption that so many are sick to death of right now. The fact is that most Democrats will vote for her before they ever think about voting for a Republican, even if they haven't supported her beforehand. And the Independents will indeed vote for her in droves. They were the ones who handed the mid-terms to the Democrats, and though the Democrats have not gotten everything done we hoped they would, they are still a far better alternative than electing another Republican. For many, it will come down to that choice - Hillary or another Republican. Thanks for being reasonable though and presenting your case without calling names. We'll just have to agree to disagree :-).

It's interesting to see how many of the people who responded to your question did exactly what you describe. My hat's off to those who thoughtfully explained why they don't like her. That's the kind of political discussion we need more of, whatever your positions are.

Yes, I think you're largely right. A lot of people can't believe a mere woman might become president, especially one they don't find attractive (which is of course the most important criterion for a president). A lot of people are just gnashing their teeth because so recently they were told that the Republicans would be in power forever, and now it's all somehow slipping away. And I think if you were to ask most Americans what they like about their favorite candidates, you'd get very little about their records or positions. People don't know and most don't care. They like their looks, they like where they come from, they heard something good about them. Makes you wonder if universal suffrage was really such a good idea sometimes.

Some do. I've actually seen some relatively reasonable explanations here for why people prefer someone else. That's cool. But I think you're mostly right. The country is so polarized and there are many people who just can't believe this is happening. They see that nothing they or the leading Republicans, or even Rush Limbaugh, has to say seems to make much difference, so they're left with this verbal foaming at the mouth. It's just sad.

what positions on what issues? she changes he stand with the passing wind, or should i say, the most updated poll. she is a conniving power hungry (delete or insert expletives as desired) career politician who will do ANYTHING to ANYONE to be President.

The one position she sticks to (so far) is nationalized Health care, which is about the worst idea I've ever heard. People think it sounds like a good idea, but that's because they don't fully consider all the implications.

I would sooner see Bill back for 8 years, than see Hillary as president for one day. I would sooner see Ted Kennedy, or even that empty suit John Kerry.

I have no doubt that Hillary has issues she intends to pursue, but she is not going to run on any of them. She will run on what she thinks will get her elected. We will only see her true agenda if it appears re election is not possible, or after she wins a second term (Heaven help us)

It is obvious from the way she treated her State Trooper security details in Arkansas, she feels she is better than most other Americans. She is a smart woman, I'll grant, but she is only in it for Hillary, not for the people, and certainly not for the "little guy". She is a woman who must be stopped.

That is true. I'm a libertarian and don't plan to vote for her but I hate when people comment on her clothes or ankles. Is stupid and it really doesn't bring anything intelligent to the debate. Just yesterday, someone asked if she and Bill were still having sex! How is that viable information? They call her a Marxist, feminazi, compare her to Hitler, and insult her. That doesn't make her look bad, it makes them look bad. This are the insults the Clintons thrived on. I haven't seen anyone ask about her voting yes on allowing illegal immigrants to participate in Social Security, or not supporting a constitutional ban on flag burning. How about the times she has voted yes on funding billions of dollars in schools? This are very important things to worry about not what her hair looks like.

Sorry Elway, but I do think she's unelectable, albeit I'm assuming a so-called mainstream (first tier) Republican will get that nomination. Downriver Dave said everything I have to say.

I do agree with Dannilynn, and with Elway, that there are a lot of idiotic claims about her. BOBO's comments are a case in point - how a supposedly "admitted" Marxist during college could have simultaneously been a Goldwater Girl is beyond me, but THAT (dear BOBO) is the fact.

I do! I am intelligent enough to know that we would be crazy to vote for her and Bill. I was a democrat when I voted for bill in 1994.
Loved the guy and she was ok. But then the embarassment he brought on this country was too shameful for me to endure.
I believed in him, defended him, looked up to our President.
It used to be where the presidents were GREAT men and Bill just made himself comparable to my garbage man.
He cheated on his wife, and had the nerve to ask her forgiveness, a real man would leave and say you dont deserve this.
BUT THE WOMEN stayed, for her political gain.
Which makes her a user and a weakling.
Did they skip the word faithful in their vows?
I believe in forgiveness, but I would forgive him down the road when I have a new boyfriend who isnt a cheater and a divorce.
Who says you have to forgive him and stay.
I would have respected her if she left him.
I think most republican women would have. I think if she left him she would have this race in the bag. What women would not look up to a woman who was wronged, kicked his *** out the door, and made her way on her own to become president, I would have been first in line to stand behind her, except that she keeps blabbing about universal healthcare, which will never happen,
and oh my god lets give illegals drivers licenses, since they are not supposed to BE HERE!! ooops.. forgot that law... convienantly.
Lets give more money to all the poor people who wont get off their asses and get jobs and fake disabilities and live off thier kids child support and welfare checks and have more babies to increase their benefits. FRED THOMPSON Is the only canidate I will vote for in this election. UNLESS Hillary is the canidate, then I will lead a march to the election site to do everything I can to avoid letting a women barely qualified to run a Walmart in Arkansas win such an important seat and be a role model at that.
I mean cant wait for my daughter to grow up and be a cheatin lawyer and marry a cheater and wont leave him so she can use him to get a good job. Im glad I am no longer a democrat. I would be embarrassed. I dont know one thing she even did as first lady during her 8 YEARS in office, besides shop and babble about health care. Poor people have universal health care anyways its called medi-cal in CA. So who does she think she is speaking for with that stance? Certainly not the middle class...Because she hasnt done a damn thing for me in the past 10 years. Bush/Cheney was much better to me, able to get good jobs and cars and a home in his term.
WISE UP AMERICA.... she needs to go back to being a housewife, and apparently she wasnt so good at that either...
