There is more human connection in NYC than in LA, and consequently, I think people are much, much, much more personable and fantastic in NYC.

I've only been there since 9/11 and the 2003 blackouts, and some have said that the personality of the City has changed a lot since then. I can't verify one way or another, but I can say that I've been to NYC about 10 times in the last 4 years, and it is addictive. There are so many people who will talk to you - sometimes whether you're in the mood or not. It is a place that makes me love my fellow man.

L.A., on the other hand, has not been my kind of place. It's a "bubble" world, and I think this is primarily because everyone gets around in a car. Cars are amazing little inventions, because people, when inside the "protection" of their car, will behave in ways that they would never behave in person. Road rage, traffic jam exhaustion, pollution, living with and near over-exposed celebrities who won't get off your television or computer screen, but are often unapproachable in person, feeling pressure to look and behave a particular way because the culture rewards those who can sell themselves best (which often involves stepping on others on your way to the top)... it takes its toll on the human experience.

I've also had the unique experience of being with LA-natives while in NYC, and with NYC-natives in LA, and I can tell you that it's the cities themselves, not the people, that is what makes people behave as they do in either location. Both groups of people fell right in line with the local mannerisms.

I had a boyfriend that was living in LA for a while and there were quite a few rude people, but there were also nice ones. Kind of an even mix I guess.

I went to NY for the first time this summer, and I was expecting for everyone there to be mean and selfish and in a hurry. But that's not how it went at all. There were a lot of really nice people there. I'd choose NY over LA any day.

LA has a lot of fake people but NY has a lot of mean people from what I heard. So lets just say they are tied. No offense to the cool A55 down to earth people from both places.

I'll have to say LA b/c it's near where my home is, and I've never been to NY anyway. I want to though.

LA people always appear more friendly and laid back.

unexpectedly. LA people have poorer manners than NYers, and are less friendly.
