Good universities known for their good english programs?

I'm looking for good colleges with good english programs, since I'm interested in a career as a journalist, novelist, or english professor/teacher. Thanks!

UC Berkeley is the best. Then anything in the Ivy League, Stanford, Duke, Northwestern, Rice, any public university in the Big Ten, etc.

You know -- the usual suspects.

The quality of a school's English department is highly correlated with the quality of the school. Look at any ranking of colleges to see the good ones.
