I know that you don't want people to be mean when they answer this, but, just given the list of cars you want to choose from it appears that you are a little spoiled. I'm not being mean to you, but I'm just telling you like it is.

That said, I would not allow my 16-year-old daughter to have ANY of the cars you listed. Why? Because they are inappropriate due to the cost involved AND the insurance for a 16 year old to drive one of them would be sky-high.

You said you can spend any amount of money you want on a vehicle. So, why not something practicle like a late-90s or early '00s Ford Taurus, Oldsmobile Alero, or even a Ford Explorer? They are perfectly nice vehicles and the insurance would not be that expensive.

To allow a child your age to drive a luxury automobile such as those you've listed is sending the completely wrong message. People don't start at the top, sweetie, they have to work their way up. I've been driving for almost 30 years and I JUST worked my way up to a Cadillac. I've driven some real pieces of junk, but, believe me, I was happy to have them because they were mine, they were paid for, and I had my independence.

WHAT you drive is not nearly as important as how safe the vehicle is and how well it is maintained.

I would choose the Lexus. A Hummer is a bad idea for a new driver, too big, too gas-guzzling.

edit - I know people will hate either way, but it's not like you'd be the first 16 year old with a luxury car! I don't see the big deal.

okay, you are 16, you really don't need a new car, get a Lexus that is a few years old because you might dent or scratch the thing and who wants to dent their brand new car? I'm giving my son a 9-year old Acura and he's happy about that. Dealers don't usually keep crappy old cars on the lot, so you could get a nice used one. Why don't you get your mom's car and let her buy herself a new one?

Sorry Sweetheart but my answer stands the same. I do not think that 16 year olds are mature enough to handle all the responsibilities and stresses of driving

If your mother was going to match what you put toward purchasing it, you pay the insurance (which will gag you when you check into insurance), you pay for gas & maintenance, like I said before-a used Saturn or Taurus. Your just going to wreck it anyway. If you paid for it yourself, you would pay attention. Driving is NOT a right, it's a privlege.

the best car when you are 16 is a POS. you just need one that runs, and is crash resistant. you do not need anything fancy when you are 16 because when you done with it it will be a POS anyway.
