I would say the small private practice... that way you can pick and chose who you work for and who must move on. Of course, you could start with the small practice and when you get older, be a professor. Nobody likes having a professor who never actually did what they are teaching anyway.

I'd say it really depends on you. Each has its pluses and minuses--e.g. school psychologists are probably off in the summer; professors have even more time off, but they are required to publish (at least until they get tenure) or they can lose their jobs; I'll bet that a well run private practice would make the most money, but one has less time off and one also has the pressures of owning a small business. Good luck.

It depends whether you like to work with young adults or with children. Do you prefer to teach or to be involved more in a counseling or assessing type of situation? A professor earns a guaranteed salary, while if you were in private practice you would be in business for yourself without a guaranteed income. Either could be challenging, stimulating, and interesting, but you need to ask yourself which would appeal most to you.

To be honest with you, I would choose the professor. In some ways you have to be a Psychologist in that profession.
Good luck.

Private practice if you are looking to get rich. Teaching if you want more personal gratification.

Does it really matter? I think you should should choose the one you think you would like the most. The money don't mean a thing if you hate going to work! =)
