Apples to Apples is ultimately the best. Some other suggestions... Mad Gab, Cranium, Clue, and you could check out the Apples to Apples expansions. I have the 2nd one and it's much better than the original game. A lot more up-to-date.

There is quite a few of them out there. I like Monopoly or Trivial Pursuit. Both of those are pretty challenging, that's what's important to me. Charades is another good one for groups, no board, but it can be a lot of fun.

Apples to apples is really good. If you play any type of scen it it can be really fun too! There's also that one game I can't remember what it's called but it's where you have a word and you have to describe it without saying it and they they have to guess it. You only have a limited amount of time. Good lck!
