I look at the moon through my telescope a lot, and one thing I love to watch is a sunrise over a lunar crater. I've seen it happen from earth, but I would love to be up there to watch it.

On the moon, there is no atmosphere, so there is no twilight. Where the sun shines, the surface is dazzling bright. But places in shadow are inky black. No grey, no slightly darkened areas, as no light whatsoever strikes those places (on earth, light is refracted through the air so that we can see our backyards when our houses are blocking the sun.)

So imagine sitting on the eastern edge of a crater. Everything in front of you is in utter blackness. Suddenly, without warning, the upper western wall of the crater explodes into brilliance as the sun rises behind you. As the sun climbs slowly, more and more of the far wall is visible, and it appears as a bright shining mass of rock seemingly floating above the inky blackness beneath it , as no light has yet penetrated into the depths of the crater, for the sun angle is still too shallow. Gradually the black shadows recede as the sun's rays clear the eastern rim of the crater and fall on the crater floor. As it does, you are watching this interplay of dazzling white and pitch blackness, with no gray in between.

Truly a sunrise on another world.

I'd dig a shaft and bore a hole halfway down the globe and insert a Superconducting Ring sealed in liquid helium to create an atmosphere. Then I would chemically release carbon dioxide, nitrogen and oxygen into the atmosphere. Apparently the lunar surface contains a lot of sodium from solar bombardment, so I'd have to figure out what to do with it.

To keep these gases trapped in the atmosphere, we'd have to lay down some soil and plant a lot of grass and trees.

We'd also bring a cow to act as a surrogate mother to breed all the other frozen embryos of a pig, goat and lamb.

Then we'd open our first lunar restaurant. ..it should be a g-astronomic experience to say the least.

1. I'd do the obvious experiment that involves somebody of the opposive gender.
2. For exercise, I'd dig a basement deeper and deeper and see what kind of layers the moon has.
3. I'd build a big pressurized gymnasium so we could play extreme basketball and stuff.
4. I'd shoot funny videos taking advantage of the lighter/slower gravity.
5. I'd grow lots of different plants to see if any grow taller than they do on Earth.
6. I don't know if I'd have the guts to have kids and see if they grow taller on the moon. It might be considered inhumane.

I would see how plants, fish and small animals would survive in lunargravity. I would then do a lot of maglev tests to see if I could supply the ISS with food, air and water (which NASA would pay me lots of money to do) using waste from the ISS, lunar resources and electricity from sunlight. It is way cheaper to launch a payload in to low earth orbit from the moon than from earth. By the time there are space/lunar hotels my catering service will be the only one in the block. $$$

I'd look around in some craters and try to find moon diamonds formed by the meteorite impacts. If I found some, I'd give you one.
