what exactly happens? plus will black tips look better than white tips?

If you go to a GOOD salon, they will cut down your real nails, apply the tips and ask how long you want them. If you are getting acrylics done then they should put primer and bond aid on your nails to help the acrylic adhere better. Then they will take a brush and dip it into liquid and powder to make the acrylic paste to apply to your nail. Then they have to file them and shape them with the dremmel (the little drill) to make them look more natural and all that. White tips are definately better and i f you don't like them they can always paint over it. Hope this helps :-)

It's hard to describe, but NO black tips will look horrible and weird.
Go with classic white =]

I know they shave down your nail, but it is still there. they use acrilic, or gel and stick that on top of the nail that they glue down. They also removve your cuticals, and straighten up your hangnails. After they put on the acrylic, they put on the white spray to give you the french manicure look.....and dont get black....looks like you have dirt under your nails.
it sounds weird and painful, but it does not hurt

the manicurist will have you wash your hands, she/he will file them to your specifications, if youre in an upscale salon, they may massage your hands and forearms with a nice lotion, then they will paint them....i kinda like the idea of black tips, it's different and edgy.
