That's the question but you may want to read the reason I asked. lol x

Mrs Jones was getting old & frail, and it was decided that she should move to a residential home.
Her son went to see her shortly after she moved in and spoke to a nurse, to find out how she was settling in.
"Well," said the nurse " she's fine, but there seems to be a problem with her balance. She keeps leaning over one way or the other, and we have to keep pulling her back upright."
The son wandered over to his mother.
"Hi Mum, how are you doing? Any complaints?"
"Hi Son, I'm good. I like it here - comfortable room, good food, pleasant company.

The only problem is - they won't let you f*rt."

I am not worried about it. I live by myself, and I don't have any children, so I feel it will probably be a big possibility someday. I just hope they will let me f*rt when necessary. LOL

Very cute! lol
No, I'm not worried about it. If I live long enough I will probably be in one, I don't want to be a burden to my child. I started visiting a nursing home 5-6 yrs ago and I've told my daughter to make sure I get chocolate milk for lunch everyday and buttermilk a couple times a week. I know a lot of the ends and outs of how to make the most of my time there and I already love Bingo. lol I hope my loved ones will come and visit and bring me treats. Then I'll be just fine there.

Apparently, Mom is only having problems with her balance some of the time.

Which isn't a big problem, because most older people have issues with balance, at some time.

Unless, you live in a hospital, finding yourself in a convalescent home would be an improvement, over the life you would have at home, depending on how your aging, and, even, if you or your kids could afford it!

You could Google the name of her doctor, the name of the home, or anyone who works there!

Good Luck!

I don't really worry about it, but my family are far away so unless I luck out it may be inevitable. It is what it is. Just hope my mind keeps working as well as it does, and would love to have access to a laptop. I would not be happy to give up my cats, who I call my girls, but its not up to me. Nature is running the show, and Ma Nature does not play favorites. Anyhow, its a great adventure, isn't it? Re. intestinal gas.Among the elderly, it is not unexpected. So I imagine in a nursing home its pretty much ignored.

I have worked in a lot of nursing homes - mainly through the nursing agency - and most of them are pretty poor. They provide only the most basic of care and the residents mostly sit around all day bored and miserable.

I wouldn't want to end up in one.

Nursing homes have their good points, I had a friend who went into a very nice nursing home, sadly by then this Lady was rather senile and thought she was staying in a Hotel, she was so happy there and every time she had a visitor she would comment on what a good Hotel it was.

I have learned not to worry about that which I can do nothing about. :) However, a nursing home would not be my choice. I do not want to live with my children so if it comes to that it does. Hope the kids pick a good one! lol

That was so cute!!!!

As far as going to a nursing home, I don't think that I will have to worry about that. My family has this thing that nobody is put in a nursing home at all. Our kids come and take care of us when it comes to that point. None of us "kids" think of our parents as a burden to us. They are our parents and they took care of us when we were young and now when they are elderly and can't care for them selves, we step in and care for them. It is just me since I lost my only brother a couple of years ago. So I am the one caring for my parents. They are not a burden to me at all. I like and enjoy doing things for them.

That was cute. I hope the nursing home is a long way off. I don't worry about it. If it happens, it happens. My son thinks he wants to take care of me when I reach that point, but I don't want to be a burden.
