Possibly ask your parents what you can do to help convince them that you are deserving.
They may not link your school grades with receiving a new dog especially if you've been earning these grades all through school.
If money is an issue you could offer to do jobs around the house or do chores for other people (I use to help sort statements for my Uncle's business).
Do they think it's something that you'll give up on it in 6 months time? If you've already had a dog then your commitment should be obvious.
If I was you then I'd try and have mature conversation with my parents. I would plan my arguments before and be able to back it up.
Good luck.

I think that you should put your argument together right before you talk to your parents again about it...make a list of reasons why you should get a dog and have evidence to back it up.
Example: I make A's and B's in school
Show your parents your report card
You should also have a plan of where you're going to keep your dog when no one's home, where it would sleep, when you would feed it, walk it, clean up waste after it (probably once or twice a week).
And also listen to what your parents tell you...part of being responsible and mature is to see where someone else's point of view is coming from.

Well first of all, learning how to spell would be a big step. Maybe you can babysit a dog first to learn how hard it is to take care of a dog. If you can be mature and responsible about that, then your parents might let you get one. Keep in mind that dogs, especailly puppies are expensive and time consuming. You will have vet bills, grooming, toys, bedding, etc. Puppies will pee all over your house, will bark, and will chew things.
Good Luck!

Do your chores without whining or having to be told to do them. Wait a couple of months and then ask again. Tell them that you have been getting your chores done and your homework and you would like to get a dog. Also, if you are of legal age to work, you could get a part-time job and pay for food, shots, bedding, etc yourself (If you get the OK to get the dog)

first, you need to understand that a dog is a lot of responsibility.(feeding, walking, bathing, combing, brushing, cleaning up after accidents in the house) these are the thing you're going to have to do because it will be you're dog. but if you want to convince your parents that you deserve a dog you need to keep your grades up, stay out of trouble, do your chores and help out your parents when they need help.

First off, why did your first dog die? That might tie in with you dad's reluctance.
