And the riots in our streets, like there was in the late 1960's and early 1970's, 1.during election campaigning, and 2. the returning troupes?
I read a 'news' report this past week(YAHOO), where there were students " Blocking the trucks and supplies, returning from Iraq", in Washington State.
Surely there will not be those who insult, deride, belittle, accuse our heros of being "killers" !!!!!

Olympia and Seattle, Washington and Portland, Oregon are magnets for vandals who want an excuse, usually political, to raise hell, burn and break things and defy the police. Most people recognize them for what they are and pay little attention to them, aside from the sensationalist media. The police are experts at dealing with them by now. In the case of the Olympia "riots" a few days ago, they were successful in slowing down commuter traffic for a few minutes, but the stories of them bravely blocking a military convoy were exaggerated by the rioters themselves. The convoy moved through town unimpeded. You can view the videos at www.theolympian.com

I think something like this is needed to shake things up. Too many people are complacent just to sit and do nothing. These people are, in fact, exercising their first amendment right of freedom of speech. This administration has done a lot of questionable things, and if it takes a lot of students going to the street to get them to straighten up their act, then let it happen.

Let me also state that it is not a problem with the troops that I have, but in the politics who order the troops into this mess. All of us go becuase we ultimately believe in the ideals that the US stands for: Freedom for ALL. This does not mean blind obediance. Let the people question the war, and let our politicans answer them, without a lot of political double-talk!

I would certainly hoe there is. It s long past time America's young people continued to simply accept the racism and unAmerican attitudes of the right-wing without taking to the streets in protest.

That is their right as fre people--and is a right guaranteed by the first Ammendment.

Incidentally--you will find, if you look at the history of what the anti-American right-wing extremists like to call riots--that the violence was almost never started by students, but by either police using unlawful force, or hecklers trying to silence people whose only "crime" was exercising the rights of political expression that real Americans have fought and died for for over 200 years.

we AMERICANS will not deride, belittle or accuse those returning from war as being killers without actual, factual evidence - and even then, only in specific, individual circumstances. Now, TROUBLEMAKERS will do all that stuff without evidence or consideration.

David, unfortunately our leaders on the left call our troops killers all the time, it's pitiful, and they should all be charged with treason.

The radical left knows no shame, and will try any dirty deed to get what they want...a socialist USA.

This time around, let those returning troopers kick the crap outta some of these slimes with no legal repercussions, and watch how fast those leftists cowards SHUT UP !
