4(x² - (1/2)x - 10 / 4) = 0
( x² - (1/2)x + 1/16 ) = 1/16 + 10/4
(x - 1/4)² = 41/16
(x - 1/4) = ±√41 / 4
x = 1/4 ±√41 / 4
x = (1/4) (1 ±√41)

Divide by 4, move the constant term to the right side, and then add 1/4,
x^2 - x/2 + 1/4 = 5/2 + 1/4
(x - 1/2)^2 = 11/4
x = 1/2 ±√11 / 2

4x^2 - 2x - 10 = 0
x^2 - 0.5x - 2.5 = 0
x^2 - 0.5x +0.0625 - 2.5 = 0.0625
x^2 - 0.5x -2.4375 = 0.0625
x^2 - 0.5x = 2.5
x^2 - 0.5 - 2.5 = 0
(x + 1.851)(x -1.351)
x = 1.851
x = -1.351
