why won't my computer show the picture of the dvd?

there is sound but just a blank picture it ask for a codec. how do i get that?

Your best bet is to d/l the XP codec pack. I believe it contains the proper codec for standard DVD's.

On the assumption that the DVD player is live and on play, then the usual reason for a non picture is the TV is not turned to a DVD/VCR channel or channel 0.
