I have a 1992 Buick Roadmaster. Recently I have not driven it for 2 days now (with the weather getting colder in Illinois). I got into my car for a 2-3 minute drive and the car started fine. However when I got back into the car less than 5 minutes later to go back home, my car would not start. The battery is getting enough power (interior lights/radio are full power, not dimmed or doesn't look like it's not getting enough power).

When I tried to start it, the engine would not begin to turn over and the interior lights do not flicker.

Does my problem seem to be the alternator/starter or something else?

thanks

Battery posts and cables build up oxide that causes high resistance. The connectors will appear clean and lights will fine but a heavy load like the starter just won't work. Remove both cables and wire brush or scrape the posts and connectors until they're shiny bright. First though you might want to fiddle with the transmission shifter while trying to start the car. There is a switch on the shift linkage which prevents starting in gear. Many times, on older cars, they get flaky or out of adjustment.

Sounds like a loose battery terminal.

Check the simplest things first.
(Excuse me if this is TOO obvious)
Have you checked that your battery is still connected to the battery leads. Occasionally (on English cars anyway) they come loose.

Is the shift selector in park? Try Neutral as well
Check the ignition switch, is it loose? keys and lock pins wear

good luck

It sounds like the starter or tranny. How are your fluids? Is your temp in normal range?
