Start -> Run -> Type "msconfig" -> Go to "Startup" Tab.
Uncheck any services you do not need to start when the computer boots. Just beware that you don't uncheck your antivirus or firewall for security reasons. If you aren't sure what a program does, don't uncheck it.

Click Start > Run and type "msconfig" at the prompt. Click the Startup tab and look at all that junk that loads when you launch your PC. Turn off anything else that looks useless, but be careful not to disable Windows system components.

If you did these all at the same time, restart your computer. All these to be done once in a week if possible, depending on the frequency of use of your PC.
