Dear one - Poetry.com will publish your poetry in the front cover of a book full of others - but not in alphabetical order like the others... and you have to pay for that book. They will ultimately offer to print a collection - but you will have little control - and will have to pay for all books.

If you wish to legitimately publish - check out your local library's research section for books on how to submit and get your poetry published. There are many volumes of "How To" books that are very informative.

I own such books - but they are not current editions. ...And yes, I have been published. Go to your local bookstore - they may have the current editions on sale. Ask them to search their database for you. One is called "The Poet's Market."

Speak to the Editor of your local paper and ask if you can submit poetry for them to use as "filler" to get your work seen.

Contact organizations that you are a member of - and ask if you can submit work to their newsletters. (Like any newsletters published for local VA chapters.)

Be sure to copywrite everything you write so that you retain the right to determine what happens to your work, and how it is presented. (Even if you just mail original dated work to yourself so the sealed envelope and postmark prove your original creation is truly yours.)

Here - I have found a link for you:

Go to your local library and see if you have a local poets society you can participate in. You need constructive criticism from fellow artists. Never be afraid to take a course to refine your skills.

Go to local print houses in your city and ask them what they charge to print paperbacks by the 100's... get your work in the fashion you desire it to be presented, and save up the $$ to print your own. Talk to your library and local book stores about carrying your work and doing a book signing.

Everyone starts small - but it is an absolute thrill when you get that first Library of Congress ID number!

I pray you have great success, dear one!
Peace.

You probably won't find a publisher for a book of poems until you've proven yourself by publishing individual poems in a number of different journals.

If you're serious about poetry, you probably have some favorite 'zines that you read, either in print or online. Read the submission guidelines in those publications to find out when and how to send them your work for consideration.

Steer clear of poetry.com, which is a scam.

First, make a portfolio of all your work and then see if you can find a local publisher who is willing to just read your work and see what or if they offer anything. Even if its just a small publisher and wouldnt reach many its still a great accomplishment and you should be proud of yourself. Good luck and I hope it comes true.
