You're probably looking at man-made satellites, but without more specific information (your location, the direction you're looking, the angle, speed and direction of travel of the lights, etc.) who knows?
Not that I would know if you DID give more specific information, I'm just guessing that you're seeing satellites. But I'm sure someone on here knows, and if you give them more info they can help you.

Satellites actually cross the sky at a remarkable clip, maybe twice as fast as passenger aircraft at full, 30,000 foot altitude. Meteors go lots faster. Satellites bright enough to be seen by naked eye are few and far between, the brightest being the ISS and the obsolete-before-it-even-started Iridium phone sats. Note time and direction and compare with predictions for your area from www.heavens-above.com.
Which way was the light headed? In general, civilian sats travel west-east at low inclinations. West-east is chosen because it saves launch fuel, since the Earth is already headed 1,000 mph in that direction. Spy, military, and the previously mentioned Iridium sats travel at high ("polar") inclinations so that their ground tracks cover as much of the globe as possible.

Probably either satellites or airplanes. If it's just one light that looks like a star, going at a constant (and slow) velocity with no accompanying sound, it's probably a satellite. A group of moving lights, or a light that moves at an inconstant velocity or has a sound associated with it is probably an airplane. Very, very fast lights that vanish after a moment are meteors.

If they look like tiny slow moving stars you are seeing satellites. If they move really fast and disappear in a flash they are meteors.
