in residential care for the elderly we have 32 fem,2male residents. on most nights there is ither 2 fems or one of each working but on an odd occasion one dose not turn up an its possible 2men will do the work,its said thay cant due to sexual discrimination.thats fine but what of the 2 men that live there,is it not discriminating against them when 2 fems are working?

its an anoying one coswe are having to advertise for a female worker when we have a man more than capable and willing to work the nights but cant due to this. do any of you think it would be worth bringing it up with the carecommision?

SD takes account of the feeling of either sex - so men are unlikely to complain but women are likely to feel uncomfortable - so it's not sex discrim per se - but is cover by that bundle of legislation - like one of the other answerer's said (even though he might have said it jokingly) - men don't complain when women dress or undress them - women don't feel comfortable when men do it.

Yep there is some law,I forget what it's called.You have to have a female carer present which yes I agree it is sexual discrimination cos you can have all women workers but no men!

If there is only male carers working you are taking away the females right to chose who they want to do their care x
