Take the ±√3 and + 2 like this:
(x - 2)^2 = 3
x - 2 = ±√3
x = ±√3 + 2

Take square root,
x-2 = ±√3
x = 2±√3

FOIL:

(x-2)(x-2) = 3
x^2 - 4x + 4 = 3

Now put it in quadratic form by subtracting 3 from each side:

x^2 - 4x + 1 = 0

Now use the quadratic formula to solve:

x = -b +/- (b^2 - 4ac)^1/2 all over 2a
x = (4 +/- (16 - 4*1*1)^1/2 )/ 2
x = (4 +/- (12)^1/2) / 2
x = 2 +/- 3^1/2

Hope this helps!

(x-2)^2=3

taking the square root of both sides, we get

x -2 = ± √3
1) x -2 = √3 ---> x = 2 + √3
2) x -2 = - √3 ---> x = 2 - √3

(x-2)²=3
multiyply the square into the "2" and the "X"
X²-2²=3
now do all the squaring u can
X²-4=3
+4+4
add the 4's on both sides to get rid of the "-4" on the left
X² = 7
Square root both sides
√x² = √7
X = 6.45

(x-2)^2 = 3

x^2 - 4 = 3

x^2 = 7

x = square root of 7

x = 2.6458
x = - 2.6458
