I am 6 months pregnant and have been experiencing a lot of "braxton hicks." I was told as long as there is no bleeding/pain involved I'll be okay. Like my 1st son he was big at birth and with this 2nd baby I can tell that he also will be big too. (Big bones run in both sides of the family - mine/boyfriend) My stomach as dropped a lot since the ending of last month where it sits right on my thighs. LOL. People predict I'll give birth at the end of December. Is that too early? I am due on Feb. 1st of 2008.

Second baby bellies always show up earlier and many women report feeling bigger the second time. It's also common to be more aware of Braxton Hicks since you know what to expect.

I don't think that anything you've said indicates you'll deliver early. There is no way to predict it anyway. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you.

Early is early. "Too" early depends on many factors. Anything after 23 weeks is considered "viable" so in that sense it is not too early, but having a good chance at survival doesn't come until about 28 weeks, and those babies can still have many problems and complications. A baby born at 34 weeks is almost always completely fine and just needs time to work on feeding and growing.

How many weeks along are you? I'm 28 weeks and 2 days and I'm due on Feb 6th. So by saying you are 6 months, you would be due more than likely like middle of Feb. When I was six months along I also experienced a lot of BH's probably 5-6 hours a day or when I was really active. It's totally normal. If they start to create a pattern, like lasting for an hour and are only a minute or less apart, and are so painful that you have to practically fall to your knees. Then I would be worried. Drink lots of water to keep you and your baby hydrated. At least 8, eight ounce glasses of water a day. Not staying well hydrated can make you have contratctions, and cause early labor.

Well, with your 2nd baby you are likely to start showing sooner, therefore you might have the impression you're "bigger" or that baby is going to be really big - which isn't always the case.

Generally, subsequent babies weight a little more, but that's not always true. This child might weigh less than your first.

The end of December would be too early to deliver. You'd only be about 34-35 weeks along which might put your baby in intensive care for a while.

It's very common to experience Braxton-Hicks contractions early on. In fact, your uterus contracts beginning in your first trimester - but you just don't feel it that early.

For second-time mothers, it's common to feel BH contractions as early as 20 weeks so to feel a lot at 6 months is totally normal.

there are lots of things your doctor can do to prevent you from going into labor. dont always listen to what people tell you! you stomach may of dropped because you baby is down in birthing position which some do in the sixth month, it does not mean you will go into labor early. try not to worrie it will put un-needed stress on you and the baby!!
