I have just moved back to my hometown. I ran into my best friend from high school and we are going out to lunch to catch up on things. I have already come out to my family, and my friends seemed to find out at a natural pace. I feel as if there is pressure to not misrepresent myself to my friend, but I don't want to force it. Should I suck it up and tell her right away?

If you are comfortable in your own skin, she will be happy for you too. She will either see that you are a happy fully realized person, or she will retreat within her own prejudices. Either way, you have nothing significant to lose, and a whole lot to gain.

show your happiness - most people are flattered that you trust them.

I think so! It's like the band aid thing. It's better to rip it off fast than to slowly take it off. If after telling them they have a problem with you being gay........then they were never really a friend in the first place and you are better off.

If this would give you a peace of mind, then do so, but don't do so just because you want to see her reaction. You first have to ask yourself one question, what is it the real reason you want to share this with her?

If you're gonna 'catch-up', she'll ask you about your love life... perfect window to mention it. Say it casually too so she knows it's no biggie.

Only you can answer this.

Does your friends need to know it? Will it harm or change your friendship?

Do you have to tell everyone?

well, if she is a very good friend i feel that you should tell her. you don't want to lie about your feelings. if she is a true friend it will not matter to her.
