If our child is a boy, we want to call him CJ, but his name would be Christopher ________. We can't decide on a middle name. I want it to be short, hopefully one syllable like Jay or Jake or James. James is just too traditional of a name and sounds like he'd be named after someone but there are no James in our families. What sounds good? Last name is two syllables, ending with -en, so a name like Jaden wouldn't work. Thanks for your suggestions!

My sister's baby is named Jack after my oldest sister Jackie. So, although it sounds cute, I wouldn't want to use it. I like Jude and Joel...

I definitely vote for Christopher Jude - that's just adorable. Both names flow together very well. It's also really very masculine and decisive sounding. Christopher Joel, Christopher Jay and Christopher Jake (which I love - I love using 'nicknames' as middle names, like Kate for a girl) also sound cool, but Jude just tops them all. The only other one syllable name I can think of is Jet - Christopher Jet would be cool too, but if you aren't into that sort of thing than Christopher Jude is definitely the best.

Good luck and congrats!

PS I think two syllables might work too, if the name is short enough - like Joel (technically two syllables - Joe-El) that's said so quickly it just sounds like 'Jole'. That's why it's kind of weird people are suggesting names like Jeffrey, Jason, and Jonas, where the syllables are clearly pronounced lol.
