J.O. 3 its not always the true because its always works. You have to remember once you're connected you're the target for any types of attacks, regardless if you have visited on any sites on not.

9.95 or better, because my real-time protection is excellent.

I use Comodo's Firewall Pro, Avast 4.7 antivirus, Comodo BOClean antimalware (for real-time shield), Spyware Blaster and Spybot S&D (for immunization).
My primary Browser is Firefox, I use McAfee's Site Advisor to keep an eye on the safety of the sites I visit, and I do any 'strange' surfing using Sandboxie.
Not to mention that my Micro$oft patches are always up to date.

I keep Superantispyware and A-Squared Free on board just to run the occasional on-demand scan.

*Everything* above is freeware.

Avast anti virus does everything that even Norton couldn't (hated Norton with a passion) I have PC doctor which is a great tool for spyware removal also adware. You only need those two tools to prevent virus/spyware stuff. I mean if you continue to get trojans it is because you keep downloading stuff which you shouldn't, open up shady e-mails (dangerous to do this sometimes) and most importantly P2P sharing tools such as Limewire. Although a nice utility to share music, you never know if you are downloading the right file or that the file is infected. Bottom line is that you must have common sense and the real way to prevent infestations is by simply avoid them. I've never had a virus.

9. I never get viruses, and my only 'spyware' is the occasional tracking cookie.

I do this by browsing using firefox, checking my email using webmail, rather than Outlook, and using a router as a firewall to block outside attacks. I also know how to tell if a file on limewire etc. is fake by the size and keywords. (though I don't use it that often anyway... just for stuff I can't find elsewhere)

10 - I don't get any on my PC.
I do use anti-virus and I have other tools just in case, but the most effective way to stay free of these problems is to never get them in the first place. Stay away from shady sites, use common sense and don't fall for emails that claim you 'WON' or 'Claim you check!' etc... Also, do not download 'free' software unless you are sure it is legitimate and safe.

6.. i use avg, lavasoft adaware, spybot search and destroy, cwshredder.. having more than one antivirus is a good, but the bad thing is they are all free.. you can get better protection if you have a licensed antivirus..

I have avast! proffesional edition.

It protects me from everything, and if a new virus is found i can immediately destroy it.
