It would be better (much better) to give her a gift belatedly than giving a crappy, rushed gift. Trust me. Go to the party, apologize for not bringing her gift, and then go home and spend some time thinking about it. She will appreciate your presence, and she will appreciate the gift that you put some thought into. Trust me.

If you really don't like that idea, ponder her interests. Buy a nice card, and add a gift card/certificate from a store that she would like. If she is a bookish person, a Barnes and Noble, Walden Books, Books-a-million or something like that would be ideal. Do NOT go to Wal-Mart and get a gift card, unless you have 30 + dollars to put on it. It's not thoughtful enough. Sure, Wal-Mart has everything, and she might like to have a little spending money, but she'll greater appreciate the thought behind just a nice card and a late gift.

LOL -- nothing like prior planning -- right? Maybe you could bake some cupcakes from scratch? I have no idea what you have, though.

Maybe you could think of something you can do together ad present her with the plan of that for a gift.....such as going out to a special event or something. A concert? A sporting event?

This happened to me once on a friends birthday. What you do is buy something online. Then print off a small picture of it. Fill a big box with shreds of newspaper or packing peanuts. Put the picture somewhere in the box. Give her the box and see if she can find the picture. Then tell her that will be arriving in a week.

Make a card using things you have at home, maybe a picture of you two or just you if you don't have the two of you.
Enclose cash or a "homemade gift certificate such as for lunch or bowling date or movie or CD or something like that", but make sure you follow through with redeeming the certificate!
Of course there's always those "recycled gifts" that someone gave you but you haven't used! but don't give them something they wouldn't like!!!

You could make her promise notes. Ones that say you will do certain decent things. Like you will spend a half an hour with her helping her do------, ex. homework, clean her room, clean her car, wipe dishes, etc. gl and Gb p.s you can make them nicer by adding color and clip art or something that you have at home to decorate them with.

go for the cuteness, home made card make is sweet. then draw some nice pictures incorporate some inside jokes you guys have. and then just slip some money into it. or if you are low on the dough. just well this is corny but it might work make her coupons. lol sounds weird but they might say like "good for one movie paid for by me", of "one lunch that i will pay for" something of that sort. hope it works out.

Make her a card with a promise of a wonderful evening or lunch at her favorite restaurant or an evening at a play. Something you can get later.
