I was watching "I am my own twin" on the Discovery channel and it documented people that carry their twins DNA.

In short: because they carried two seperate DNA's (one from the fused twin) their children's DNA didnt match and it looked as though the children didnt belong to the mother.

In the case of paternity, can the same thing occur? Can a woman take a man for paternity and the test come back negative? Even though he may very well be the father because he carries two sets of DNA?

Yes I would think so.They did a story on this on CSI about a guy who was a rapist and killer and do to this very condition the police had a big problem with proving he was the right guy.So I think that in real life this could also be a real very serious problem with with DNA that police could use to solve a case.

I don't know much about this topic, but yes, it could happen.

I remember a show about a women who gave birth to her son, but when they preformed a paternity test, it showed the father was correct, but she was not the mother. The question was HOW could she not be the mother, "DNA" wise, when everyone saw her give birth to her own child?

IT turns out, she was a chimera... Her uterus and womb were of a different genetic code, then the rest of her body.

As interesting as this topic is, it is extremely rare, that is shouldn't be used to casually with everyday paternity tests.

it IS possible but very very rare but some people who are "chimera" may only have one set of dna for say their sperm but a different set for their blood. as i said it is very rare but it can and probably does happen, maybe once in a million?

isn't nature weird?
