Probably because we are all different and think others should act in a certain way. Usually that way is our way! Some people have a higher and lower level of tolerance for the irritating things that each one of us ultimately does. We may irritate someone in a different way, but best to keep in mind that all of us can be irritating at times to someone!

I think it has a lot to do with the change of society. For example I am 42 and I remember when we were kids my step mom having home baked goods for us to eat as a snack as soon as we got home this was every day. We sat down as a family and ate dinner every evening. We played games together as a family. Oh and the big one We got our butts whipped if we mouthed off, talked back or did something we shouldn't have done. I guess we could blame the government on people being irretating since they have chosen to take God out of everything and also have set limitations on how we should punish our children. The children in todays society talk back, mouth off, commit more crimes and are even having children at a younger age. I think this also stems from the fact that divorce rates are higher and their are more single parents. It takes 2 to have a child but it takes the whole community to raise them. Children are becoming more irritating because they are so rude and hateful, which I think is because they don't know how to resect others including themselves. If you look at the kids who are problem kids in school mostly ending up in, in school suspension, alternative education programs or district programs you will find that most of them are misunderstood if you give them a smile and a kind word they don't know how to take it well some of them do. i work in a middle school so I am around them all the time. Here is an example:
you take 2 kids one from a single parent home and one from a home where they have both parents both children do the same thing wrong but 9 times out of 10 the one from a single parent home will make matters worse because they don't know how to express themselves it may have been that both threw a paper wad but the one who is from both parents in the home gets a warning to stop and they comply while the other will most likely argue that someone else threw it first and taking the defensive resulting in a different punishment. I hope this helps to answer your question if not then I just rambled on wasting your time and I appologize.

Things have changed so much from when I was school aged . I was taught to respect other people and if you had nothing good to say about something keep it to yourself. Now we have 6th graders lipping off to anyone they don't like or is in their way. The difference is lots of kids raise themselves. They spend lots of time alone when their parents are working and there is nobody to tell them to keep their mouth shut. I don't know how a teacher puts up with all the garbage they do everyday. And of course a12 year old grows to be a 20 year old with the same perspective , screw you.

Because the older we get, the less tolerance we have for nonsense.

Personally, for example, I'm annoyed by people that can't spell "irritating".

They do things you do not agree to. In todays society it is what pleases me. People feel you should view society the way they view it.

Maybe they irritate you because you irritate them. It COULD be a personal problem, you know. One that's yours and not everybody else's.

Irritating-
others may like attention, even if negative.
If it irritates you, don't pay them any mind.
