Society doesn't shape. Society bullies.

Society doesn't influence what people DO, it influences how they feel about what they do.

People, even in oppressive societies, independantly decide what they can or will become. Christians in Arab nations. Gays in the military. Militant terrorists within the peace of Islam. Women who demanded a full share of personhood in the 20th century, and will not give up on that goal today. Dr. King who dared to dream out loud.
