I have an Audi A3 covered by Audi warranty (Germany).
Stupid as it sounds, I've fueled the Diesel car with a regular fuel, and few minutes later I realized what I've done after the car stopped.

I've called a road service which managed to drain the fuel tank , later I've fueled again with diesel and the car seemed to work fine.

Few minutes later the car stopped again.

I've called the Audi service center in Germany, since my car is still covered by the first two years' warranty, but haven't told them what really happened.

My question is what should I do now ? if I would tell them would they still cover the damage, if not, will they be able to find that out and charge me ?

Thank you.

They will not cover the damage from your mistake. They will figure out what caused it and it may end up costing your more in the end if you let them waste valuable time chasing down the problem when you already know what it is. Sorry for your luck but I'd fess up and get it over with. Putting the wrong type of fuel in leaves all kinds of issues with the vehicle in other areas that will make it apparent to them what happened, but not until they've wasted a bit of time and labor.

Your car's warranty will not cover something that you caused to happen to your car. When it is a car manufacturer covering the cost of the repair, you can be sure they will go over the car with a fine tooth comb to find out what the cause was after you give them the symptoms of the car. They do not want to have to pay for a repair as is it, much less one that is caused from the car owner's mistake. Car owners have a hard enough time getting them to cover a legitimate repair that they should cover. How will you be able to explain to them the problem you are having in order for them to repair it? They cannot guess what the problem is. Customer information 99% of getting your car repaired.

IF YOU TELL THEM THEN YOU WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY FOREVER.

TAKE IT TO YOUR LOCAL INDEPENDENT AUTO REPAIR SHOP AND HAVE THEM REPLACE THE FUEL FILTER, CHANGE THE OIL AND FILTER, DRAIN WHATEVER IS LEFT IN THE TANK OUT AND ADD A FUEL CONDITIONER TO THE GAS.

LET THEM RUN IT FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES AND SEE WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN AND IF ALL GOES WELL HAVE THEM CHANGE THE OIL AND FILTER AGAIN AND DRIVE IT.

IF AFTER THE NEXT 3000 MILES EVERYTHING SEEMS TO BE OKAY YOU CAN TAKE IT IN AND TELL THE DEALER THAT THE CHECK ENGINE COMES ON AND OFF AND THEY WILL CHECK IT UNDER WARRANTY.

IF THEY FIND NOTHING WRONG JUST CONTINUE TO DRIVE IT AND KEEP QUITE ABOUT THIS INCIDENT.

That issue is NOT covered. That was your fault. Your insurance may cover that but the manufacturer will not, and they will know what happened, diesel is totally different from gas.

The warranty is not going to cover your mistake.

Yes, if they have to rebuild the engine, the mechanic will be able to tell what happened. It will be very obvious to anyone qualified to rebuild engines.

You will have to tell them in order for them to fix it. The warranty will not cover it.

sorry but when you put in the wrong fuel, you caused the damage. They are not under any obligation to pay for your mistake.
