My favorite tradition as a child was that we always got to open one present on Christmas Eve before bed. It was always pajamas! That way we all had on cute new pjs for the Christmas morning pictures.

Now that I have kids of my own, I do the same thing for them. It is still my favorite tradition. I am starting a new one this year though. I'm going to get each of them an ornament that shows something about them or their interests/acheivements at this time in their lives. By the time they leave home and get trees of their own, they'll have a great, personalized collection of ornaments!

Growing up my Dad always threw a huge party for everyone, He went all out for the holidays. Christmas was his favorite. He passed away when I was young but he left that love of christmas with me. He passed that tradition on to me also. But my favorite tradition now is making the decorations with my kids, I take a day off of work and get out all the craft stuff and just glue, cut, and glitterize everything to make the house festive. It really helps bring the cheer on tht some years has a hard time finding me.

I'm going to be fifteen in December. But I say my fave Christmas tradition is still having relatives from Ireland, Poland, and Germany calling me and I talk to them when I was little I had tons of questions. Now it's alwasy fun and my German is more fluent now so I can talk to my relatives in their own language. I also loved opening up one Christmas present on Christmas Eve right when my mother comes home from work. It's just so much fun.

When I was younger my mom didn't celebrate Christmas, but now the mere fact that I have a family who enjoys the holidays as much as I do is the tradition in itself!

They enjoy cooking, wrapping for others, decorating and looking for new ornaments etc.....

Yep! Every year is sweeter than the one before.

we would always leave putting up the xmas tree until the day we finished school for the holiday, so not only would there be the excitement of end of term, but we'd get in and have this big tree dressing party. we'd put on a christmas song cd, and mum would get loads of party food. then mum n dad would just sit back and let us dress the tree however we want, so it would look awful, covered in tacky decorations, but we thought it was really great. then when we'd gone to bed mum n dad would tweek it a little so it looked good, but we didnt ever notice so we'd just be really proud of our tree! id forgotten about that till just now lol. that was a good question.
now i like the fact that even though im 20 and i dont live at home, when i go back for xmas my parents still do me a christmas stocking. its really sweet that they havent decided im too old for it.

Going for a ride at night to see the christmas lights, everyone was so happy and together and we were all amazed, with the spirt of christmas in the neighborhood. Then we'd have coco when we got home. Besides midnight mass, this is still what I look forward to!
