You could take a night class at your local adult ed. They usually run once or twice a week for eight weeks. Just google your town and "school department" and go to their website.

I begin with the library and the internet. If there are local hobby groups, I also check them out. Sometimes there are demonstrations and classes available. Also inquire at the information desks at public libraries.

Adult Education classes vary *G*R*E*A*T*L*Y*. Sometimes they are very helpful and informative. Sometimes they just offer access to tools. I have scars from Adult Education woodworking, no recommended text, a tour of the shop to note the proper names for the power tools and the location of the First Aid cabinet.

I would also consider your local hobby clubs. There are train clubs where lots of techniques could be learned and I would also check AC Moore Arts & Crafts, or Michael's Arts & Crafts.
