I'm a young writer who's strapped for cash so an agents out of the question. Also I'm not 100% shure that this is GREAT stuff, well I think it's pretty good and others have agreed but then again they could just be going along. I'd like to find someplace that I could send my book so that someone could look over it. Also I can't spend too much time with organising this transaction because I'm still in HS and have a very busy life. Anything anyone can give will make me a smarter person.

Research how to publish your stuff online, you can find a lot there. The Writer's Market has a website that will help you. But the first thing you'll want to do is find a literary agent and find what publishing companies publish books in your genre and age group. And I mean "age group" as in who your books are meant for -young adults, children, etc.

No reputable agent will charge you money up front. Agents get paid by taking a percentage of your earnings (usually 10-15 percent) after they have helped you sell your book to a publisher. Naturally, that means that an agent will not take you on as a client unless he or she believes your book has strong sales potential.

You might not be ready yet to compete in the literary marketplace at a professional level. Maybe it would be a good idea to hone your skills for a while by writing for your school's newspaper or literary magazine. And you should check out a couple of magazines for professional writers, The Writer and Writer's Digest. They'll give you some valuable insights into the business. (Beware of so-called subsidy publishers, also known as vanity presses, that want you to pay them for publishing your book.)

Sadly, you won't make more money writing than you will babysitting. Paydays are few and far between in this business.

That doesn't seem to stop anyone who is determined to be a writer, though. I suggest you get Writers Market and start learning how to submit your work. You might also want to pick up the Fiction Writing Series from Writers Digest Books. These are the best books on the craft of writing today.

Writing is the easy part. Marketing your work is hell.
