I have an XP computer and I just bought a computer with Vista preinstalled. The printer is connected to the XP computer so there's no way out of getting out of connecting to it.
I installed on the vista the LLTD protocol and made sure that the file and printer sharing was on the exclusion list in the Windows Firewall.
Neither the "View Full Map" in the Network and Sharing Center nor the "Network" show my XP computer. I have tried every single thing I know or found from the internet but.. NOTHING.
I really need your help, please.

You do not need the LLTD protocol, this is not a network printer connection, so uninstall it. First you need to set both machines in the same workgroup. Then set the printer and any folders you want available as shared. Do NOT share the whole drive, this is an easy way to accidentally trash the XP machine, as an accidental delete or move of a system file will kill it. and there is no recycle bin over the network. Then go into the tcp/ip properties of your Vista connection and slect advanced, than wins. Set always use netbios over TCP/IP, and turn off use LMHOSTS. Netbios is essential to browsing, unfortunately Microsoft set it to turn off in the presence of dhcp.

The problem is there is a program you have to install a special program on the XP that lets the Vista recognize it. I found that out from the support line right after I bought the vista computer and had the same problem recognizing the rest of my network.

Here is one of the links they told me about - for sharing printers.

I think the LLTD is what you need to install on the XP not the Vista.

First, you have to enable file sharing for your C drive to show; Second, both computers should be in the same workgroup name. Have you done that?
