I am a single mother with five children. The current house I am renting is in foreclosure. I am a nursing student and I just began a pt job at Kmart. My current landlord has another house for me to move into and the rent will remain the same $690/month. Rent is due I have no money. I am willing to work another job if I have to but right now I need some help to pay my rent. My landlord is threatening to rent the other property out to someone else and I will have nowhere for myself and my children to go. I don't have money for a security deposit to move elsewhere. Where can I find emergency rental assistance or any kind of assistance to help me. I don't receive any financial aid funds until January of 2008. Please help!

Thank you for your responses FYI those who say ask the father well child support order states that hes doesn't have to pay because it would be unjust to apply the child support formula to him because he picks them up from daycare and gets them on the weekend. I am looking for rental assistance for Detroit Michigan i'm not sure what township that is to locate the township trustee. Please assist me if possible. Thank you for all of the answers i've received so far!

I know here in Indiana emergency rental assistance is given through the Township Trustee's office. We also have a 211 service (like 911, only gives you info on assistance available). But try you local township trustee or department of family and social services. Good luck!

I'm a single mom of 3. I don't get any child support. I would like to get help from the fathers. The older 2's father we just cant locate him. The baby's father just wont pay, he's ordered to pay, just refuses. I do believe that there are too many fathers that don't take responsibility for there children, but you know that's gonna come around later when the kids want to know why they were not in there life growing up. That's when the fathers will be forced to see, just how selfish they are.

Picking kids up from daycare, and taking them on weekends if a fatherly duty, this is not helping you financially. Tell the dad(s) to start forking over some money!!. Child support is financial, not just doing stuff a father should do. Stop being naive and make him own up to his responsibility.

The support response was well to be honest BS. My bet is in fact you have not taken him to court for support, or he has ignored a court order and is just not paying. Sorry paid for too many years and know how the system works. Picking up from daycare, and having on weekends, that is just part of being a father, and has nothing to do with support. Nice try though

If you have been a good tenant ask the landlord about increasing your rent by $100 a month for the next 7 months to catch up the rent you have fallen behind.

community action agency, dept or human resources. If you are in school ask someone there. They won't give you the money but will know who might be able to help. Also try section 8 vouchers. They can help pay part of your rent every month. There has to be some type of low income housing there.
