ok so ive just had triplets and they were premature so ive been having to buy special clothes for premature babies..
example a sleepsuit with front and special opening for tubes and other things..
what i dont get is.....
if i go into mothercare and buy a set of 3 sleepsuits its going to cost me 10 pounds for 3.. now
buying 1 premature baby sleep suit costs 8 pounds on its own.
how can they charge so much for so little material ? where is the justification in that?

My daughter was really small and i was amazed by what they charged for tiny baby stuff too! Mothercare is often a rip off i'm afraid!

Yeah its quite expensive isnt it!! An then if your having to buy 3 its costing quite a bit!! But even at that the babies are needing more than 1 sleepsuit each!!!

Mothercare is shockingly expensive. I tend to avoid shopping there unless its for something special or for birthdays etc. Babies don't wear their clothes for more than a few months either, they outgrow them so quickly, its hardly worth it.
Mothercare is good quality though. the problem with cheaper stuff like Primark is that it doesn't last. My son had a pack of 3 babygros from Mothercare and several from Primark. The Primark stuff all shrank in the wash and started fraying after a week or so, but the Mothercare stuff lasted him for about 3 months until he grew out of it, and it still looks good even now.
George at Asda do "Tiny Baby" suits (my son was tiny when born and needed smaller suits) and they are much cheaper than Mothercare, but I don't think they are the "special" ones with the spaces for tubes etc. You'd have to check them out. But when your little ones are out of intensive care you will be able to buy some of them instead.
My partner's little sister was a preemie and my mother in law dressed her in doll clothes!!! She still has some of them and my God they are tiny! You wouldn't think it to look at her now, she's 15 years old and nearly 6 foot tall lol!!!

Its madness! Baby clothes cost far too much these days.
Your babies wont stay tiny for long, what I would say is go onto ebay and pick a few little things up online for a steal!
My daughter was very small at birth and she had to wear size "tiny baby".
Tesco do three packs of low birthweight front buttoning sleep suits and they cost (or at least did last Decembver when my daughter arrived) 6 euros a pack.
Keep everything you have for them, and when they are big and bold and bouncing around, you can give most of the little things to someone in the hospital who is in the position you are in now.
Just remember to keep a few little things so you can show them and say... "look how small you were!!!".
Best of luck to you!

It's a rip off. Since the majority of women have normal size babies, the demand for preemie things is low. So they charge more for preemie wear that regular wear. Ask any of your friends who may have had preemies for clothes if they are not using them. Or just wrap them in blankets.
Congrats on the three! Happy thoughts for all!

I agree, my daughter was only 5lb 12oz and even I struggled to get small enough clothes for her. The best fitting were Mams & Papas but they are expensive really so I only bought a few and just kept washing htem all the time. It was a pain at first but she soon put on loads of weight. Hope everything's ok with your little ones good luck :)

forget the sleepers and just keep the heat turned up and swaddle them. You should hopefully be able to wrap them in a blanket loosely and not interfere with tubes.
My hubby and his twin sister were premies, in fact he weighed just over a pound when he was born. His Dad wound up buying him doll clothes since they didn't really make preemie clothes back then. Even after a year in the hospital he was barely 5lbs when he came home although you'd never guess it looking at him now! Be sure to check out thrift stores and baby consignment stores for preemie clothes. Since they are worn for such a short time they are usually in perfect condition and you can buy them so much cheaper.

unfortunately clothing shops do over charge us and don't think 2 thoughts about it i think i would almost try to find some 2nd hand shops because you do have 3 baby's and they will start to grow fast. for some people it is all about the almighty dollar and when they find people that have preemie baby's they know that you still need something for the kids to ware

I think it's so expensive because you need to update so often and need specific sizes, therefor you have to pay more frequently. That's how they make their money, though, by raising the prices for people who need to update their baby's clothes often. Think of how fast they grow and compare to the clothes, then think of the price and how much you spend on them... that's just my opinion.

Its simple supply and demand, there is not much demand for these sizes so the price has to reflect the fact that this product is not being sold in bulk.
Congratulations by the way.
