Hi... i am in high school and to graduate i have to do an investigation in a subject that i choose. As i have choosen Econ i have to calculate the Gini Index for the junior class... consequently, i have to ask their parent's income... how can i make this question more "friendly" and not so agressive...??

Many if not most people feel their income is private information and don't even tell their children. I would change the topic to the gini of students, not their parents, and calculate the gini based on allowances and part time jobs.

Be up front and honest with them explain exactly what and why your doing what your doing then ask them then they will understand why you have asked them the question
