Legally you both can marry both in India if the man is residing here & in Mexico if he is residing there. In the former case your marriage will be under the Special Marriage Act,1954 before the Marriage officer/registrar in India in the district he resides in India & in the later case you can marry either under the Foreign Marriage Act,1969 before the Marriage officer/registrar who is one of the consulate officer in the India embassy in Mexico or according to the Mexican Civil Marriage law providing such marriage between the Mexican citizen & a foreigner, such marriage can further be registered under the Indian Acts which I have mentioned. Age proof, Residence proof, Marital status proof, No objection from either of the governmental authorities that no legal impediment in such marriage what so ever between both of you are the required documents in any of these types of marriage. In case the marriage takes place according to Indian laws then presence of 3 adult witnesses are required. Publication of notice for such marriage is done for a time period of 30 days & the marriage preformed after the expiry of 30 days notice period if not objection is raised regarding such marriage on any of the legal grounds applicable to such marriage, & a valid marriage certificate is issued that will be legally applicable in India as well any where in the world. For more details & any help for such marriage contact me directly.

If you marry an Indian, better do it outside India. In India, there are a lot of issues not only legal that might be great impediments. I think the marriage, if done in Mexico, will definitely be recognized in India so long as you get your marriage certificate duly attested at the Indian Embassy in Mexico City. Good luck!

You have not mentioned whether you are in India or some other country. What is the legal status of your bf in that country?Do you want to get married only in India?
Indian citizen getting married to persons of other countries does not have any legal hassles. Please inform the Mexican embassy in India about your intentions. You will get lot of info and guidance from them. All marriages have to be registered with the Registrar of Marriages in India. This requires applying for getting married in the presence of the registrar or providing proofs of marriage if done in a religious ceremony (photographs, witnesses, video tapes, invitation cards etc.).Marriage certificate is issued after this procedure which usually takes some time.Ask your bf to make arrangements for this with the help of his family back home.
If you get married in mexico get yourself registered there. This registration would be good in India too.And ...NO you cannot register in India if you got married somewhere else....and i dont see any point in that!
Good luck.

Husbands, their parents/relatives in India demand and take from wife and/or her relatives huge money, costly articles & clothes, decent furniture, 2,4 wheelers, etc., prior to/at/after marriage for marryig. If such demands are not fulfilled, wives are murdered and frequently by burning to ashes. It is common almost in all parts of India. Indian Government has enacted stern laws to prevent but failed. Bride burning/killing is not unusual and accused almost always escape legal punishment for lack of evidence.
