In a way, if you are just laying around the house, feeling sorry for yourself for whatever reason, you are actually maybe giving your body and mind a "break" from the normal daily rush of activity. Also, if something bad happened, or you are sick... you could be getting extra attention for it that can also be nice in a way. If that's the case, give yourself a couple days of down time, go ahead and feel whatever it is you need to feel, then get back on track as soon as you can. If you are just habitually feeling miserable, you may need to consider the fact that you could be depressed and may need some help to get over it. Just don't let misery become "normal", life is too short not to get out there and enjoy it.

No. It's an oxymoron. You can't enjoy misery, because misery and enjoyment are contradictory terms. A person, however, may enjoy indulging in something that would make other people feel miserable, or witnessing the misery of others.

I believe so.....they want the 24/7/365 pity party for their pithy lives. I get the feeling from those who continually ask the same emotionally-charged questions on a weekly basis in a variety of settings....it is fake and fraudulent, but can draw new people into the game, albeit for a short rime.

I think some people do actually like being miserable. It kind of gives them a feeling of power, like " No one is going to make me like things , or make me be happy, unless I choose to be ". I said to a guy I worked with once " Nice day out Bill ". He said " Yeah, but it's gonna rain tomorrow ". That guy 'loved' being miserable !

Perhaps... I think it's more of a learned feeling... growing used to it... I am miserable, and while it may seem as if I enjoy it, deep down inside I just want to be happy.
