you know, the seperation of church and state clause that the Bush administration has ignored?

The first amendment to the US Constitution states "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof" The two parts, known as the "establishment clause" and the "free exercise clause" respectively, form the textual basis for the Supreme Court's interpretations of the "separation of church and state" doctrine.

Yes, I know the first amendment quite well. So, how has the Bush administration ignored it? He's established a state religion like England has the Church of England? There's a Church of the United States now? I haven't heard of this. Or....is this just another neolib attempt at trying to show that our President has somehow violated the constitution when really it's just grasping at straws?

What religion did the Bush administration establish?
What religion did the Bush administration impede?

Anybody can look up stuff on Wikipedia and copy and paste it here. Understanding what it means is a separate task, one you're obviously not suited for!

Thanks for the 2 points!

Hardly anyone in THIS country understands the 1st Amendment. Or the rest of the Bill of Rights for that matter. But it doesn't stop people from spewing their parroted nonsense.

If any President ignored the Constitution, he would be impeached.

The President is not a part of Congress. Might want to brush up on that understanding yourself.

I really don't care about what the Supreme Court says the constitution means.

...Unless you can show me the part of the constitution that gives the supreme court the authority to tell me what the plain language is "supposed" to mean. (Its not there, it was decided generations later by a power-hungry Supreme Court Chief Justice)

Uh, It does not say "seperation of church and state", its says that the government will not establish one religion and it will not hinder people from praticing their religion. However, you guys seem to think that means that the government can tell people where they can and cannot owrship or even mention the word God, but alas Allah should be allowed anywhere and everywhere

Hey Moron,

It was written as a direct rebuttal to the establishment of a "Church of America". Unlike England which has a "Church of England"

Do you have any grasp of history?
