during the ultasound procedure, what are the red and blue shading that appears on the screen? I was told the red and blue shading represents the sex of the baby, red-girl, blue-boy. Can someone elaborate, only if you have knowledge on the subject. Also if the baby is cooperating when can the sex be revealed? 14wks, 16wks 18wks etc?

okay to amosunknown there were red and blue shadings on the screen , I saw it myself, not during the whole procedure but it was there. To mjoy2685 why if those colors represent the blood flow are they two different colors? what do they mean?

I've only seen black and white and then on the other machine I just heard it was blood flow nothing to do with the sex of the baby and the earliest u can find out the sex of ur baby is 15 weeks but its supposed to be clearer around ur 20th week I have to wait 4 more weeks I'm so anxious.

WOW you were miss informed. The colors you see on the screen is the blood flow. You can start to notice the sex of the baby around 18 weeks. Typically ultrasound is going to be done between 18-22 weeks. Obviously the longer you wait the more chance it is of being accurate as it takes a while to fully form.

There is no red and blue shading, not on any of the many many ultrasounds ive seen. Its just black and white like tv snow.

15 weeks is generally the earliest, 18-20 is best, after that baby gets bigger and its hard for their legs to stay out of the way.

I have never had any red or blue shapes when I had all my many ultrasound. Mine have all been in black and white. You can usually tell about 15 weeks. Good luck and congrats

I've never heard of that, but you can find out the sex right around 15 weeks, but I would wait a few more weeks(give it more time to develop)
