Anybody about 21 years and older. I consider that at age 17 and 363 days* you're a minor, but once you're 17 and 364 days, you're thrust into adult hood and all the expectations that come with it. Suddenly you're "competent enough" to enter a contract, buy cigarettes, buy pornography, make an educated decision at the polls, apply for and receive credit, etc.
So I figure, after 3 years of pretending to be an adult (from age 18-21), you pretty much have the hang of it, and if you don't, you're sure as hell responsible anyway (or should be). Granted, most adults don't act like mature adults 100% of the time.
*At 17 & 364 day's you're legally an adult because the law doesn't consider a fraction of a day when determining age.

I was 17 and married because I 'THOUGHT' I was in love and 'THOUGHT' that I was an adult and "THOUGHT' that I was an adult because I had bills coming in my name, so I 'THOUGHT' that made me a responsible adult. I 'THOUGHT' wrong. I actually didn't get the true meaning of being an adult until my 40's! I know that was late but there were 'other issues'. Anyway, I think that most people THINK they know it all way too early and then several years down the road reality hits and you finally 'get it'. I honetly believe that different people become 'ADULTS' at different ages, at 18 or 21, you may be able to drive and vote, etc., but you truly don't have a clue about life and when I was that age and when other people MY age now I would tell them I knew what I was doing and what I wanted when clearly, I had no idea.

Someone that knows how to be, at least, partially responsible and knows how to trouble shoot problems quickly, to me that's huge. If you are mature enough anyone can think quickly on their feet. I know 40 year olds who I don't consider adults.
An adult takes the lead when needed in certain situations and they aren't afraid to make mistakes and they show interest in wanting to always to improve on their weaknesses

Not caring what the latest video game console is. Not caring who wins on American Idol. Not caring if I have the coolest car in my neighborhood. Not caring if my friends all have iPods or iPhones and I don't. Not caring if I don't have all the cheat codes for Halo 3 (or WoW or any of those other stupid RPGs).
I'm not only an adult -- I'm a grown-up.

tho' anyone ova 18 is seen as an adult, being an adult has little to do with age.rather,it's being able to make wise decisions, wise choices, being mature enough to do things 4 urself and by urself, being responsible 4 ur actions.really,it's a lot.

Someone who is mature enough to stand on their own.Someone who's ready to start a career. If they get married and have kids then they would have to get a job to make money to put food on the table. That's what I think "adult" means.

I honestly don't know...i'm 21 and still feel 15. I consider myself to be pretty mature, but I could not imagine getting married, having a child, or living by myself.
