Sometimes we do if we get into the city. Being in the country, we sometimes take a horse drawn hayride through the countryside. Load up on blankets, hot chocolate, and sing Christmas carols.

Love to walk around the neighborhood and see all the lights and decorations, and then drive around the island to check out the bigger developments. We also try to get down into the city itself, where the decorations are very traditional and old-time. In the biggest park, each year they do what is called "The Tree of Lights" and I love going to the official lighting where we sing carols and mingle with friends. Also enjoy seeing all the lit and decorated boats in the Parade of Lights down on River Street. Lots of family things to do in Savannah, but that hayride Gladys talked about sure sounds like a lot of fun too!

sure, yet i'm nevertheless working, so I do a great number of it by applying taking a distinctive street living house each and every evening. There are some artists interior the community, so there are even some neon designs. Then as quickly as throughout the season, i'm going to stress down a marginally prosperous street that has large Victorian & Queen Anne mansions. they have very tasteful, previous college finding trees showing from the living house windows, some inspite of two trees in 2 parlors, often with white lighting fixtures. interior of reach some streets have backyard decorations, so i'm going to be certain a number of those, too. On Christmas Eve, a close-by church has a living portrayal with adolescents in an exterior nativity scene & making a track little ones for a short software, as nicely as a petting zoo of cattle for the youngsters. (& for me!) Oh, that ornery goat stressful the cows! For years there became additionally a house with what appeared like a three-ring circus interior the backyard. On one section there became a nativity scene, on yet another, a tiny ferris wheel, & going all around, a sprint prepare crammed with toys. In the two ferris wheel & prepare, there have been teddy bears, each and every with it is little new child-length umbrella. (iciness is California's heavy wet season.) For a pair of years, I grumbled with reference to the site visitors tie-united statesevery evening, yet then i desperate to connect the spectators, & extremely enjoyed all of it each and every 12 months after that & dutifully positioned a greenback interior the donation pot for electrical energy. What a loss while they moved away. the time-honored ethical applies: in case you may no longer beat 'em, connect 'em & get excitement from!

We do every year without fail. We have just as much fun driving the grandchildren as we did our own children. People in this area have such beautiful lights, that even look better after the first snow fall. Christmas is such a magical time for every age...young and old!

Absolutely! Our city has a huge park (I'm not good at acre measurements) but every business or individual who wants to can place their own decorations in an allotted spot.
It's a tradition I started with my grandchildren to drive through it every year, sometimes more than once. We all look forward to it. Between Thanksgiving and Christmas there is a steady stream of cars.
We also like to drive around the neighbourhoods to see the Christmas decorations.
There is this one house that never fails to put beautiful small cranberry coloured lights on a huge evergreen tree in their yard. It's breathtaking.

Yep! Every year my eldest daughter, her two boys and I take a trip into D.C. and visit the Ellipse to view the National Christmas Tree; the train track around it and the trees encircling it from every state and territory. They have a huge Yule Log also and we buy hot chocolate and stand by the Log...then go listen to the carolers in the amphitheatre. We can also see the rear of the White House from there that is always decorated prettily.
Then we go to the base of Capitol to see it's White Tree...which is gorgeous.
Then we drive around and look at houses! :-)
It's been a ritual since 11 yrs ago. My two eldest grands are too old to really appreciate this and are usually out with friends ;-)

I don't have grandkids, but we do drive around with family or friends to look at the Christmas lights. They are so beautiful. My family visits one another during the holidays. We just spend the time doing whatever comes along that everyone decides they want to, being together is what means the most to us.

of course! They have a whole city block lit up in the city of Kokomo, Indiana to raise money for We Care. The lights are tremendous with all kinds of animated characters and moving vehicles. It cost $1 to drive thru, but it is worth it. Then, Marion, Indiana has the Festival of Lights along the river. It is gorgeous. Businesses sponsor light displays throughout the park, and the river has different creatures lit up in the water.I go to both places. It is worth the drive.I don't have grandkids.
